NM Police Conduct Sweep on Commercial Vehicles
From September 15th to 19th, the New Mexico State Police Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Bureau conducted a weeklong operation in Las Cruces, Deming, and surrounding areas. The operation, which involved the CVE Strike Team, Transportation Inspectors, and Compliance Review Team, focused on Border Enforcement Inspections and Traffic Enforcement.
During the operation, state police carried out 1,335 commercial vehicle safety inspections, including 72 hazmat inspections and 679 roadside border enforcement inspections. In addition, they conducted 287 traffic enforcement inspections. As a result of these efforts, 47 commercial vehicles and 37 drivers were placed out of service, and a total of 280 citations were issued.
The effort was aimed at addressing critical safety equipment violations and hazardous traffic violations involving commercial vehicles, contributing to the safety of New Mexico’s roadways.
