Read the Vote Begins at Las Cruces Libraries

Staff Report / LasCruceslocal.org

Las Cruces Public Libraries in Las Cruces, New Mexico, has announced a series of book discussions called "Read the Vote" starting October 2. The discussions will take place at the Thomas Branigan Memorial Library and via ZOOM at 3 PM.

On October 2, the focus will be on two books: "Great Again" by Donald Trump and "Hillbilly Elegy" by J.D. Vance. "Great Again" outlines Trump's vision for improving the economy, reforming health care, rebuilding the military, enhancing the education system, and bringing jobs back to America. "Hillbilly Elegy" is a memoir that explores Vance's upbringing in a family facing poverty and addiction in Ohio, his time in the Marines, and his education at Yale.

The second discussion will be held on October 16 and will center around "The Truths We Hold" by Kamala Harris. This book addresses significant challenges faced by society and puts forth a vision of shared struggle and purpose.

Interested participants can comment or send a direct message to receive the ZOOM link for the discussions.
